Having covered almost every track on their Hideout EP, it’s fair to say that TMR are big fans of Parcels. But when we came across their new single ‘Overnight’, and found out that the co-writing and production credits came from none other than funk legends Daft Punk, our respect for the Byron Bay band shot into the stratosphere. To give you some background, Parcels have produced a steady stream of sun-soaked funk bangers for the last six months, and have moved from their native Australia to cultural hotspot of Berlin to hone their craft. Aside from the obvious, what makes this collaboration even more special, however, is that ‘Overnight’ marks the first time that Daft Punk have worked directly with an emerging artist; previous collaborations have included heavyweights Kanye West, Pharrell and Nile Rodgers. With a dizzying summer of festivals and headline shows this summer, Parcels look set to hit the big time. ­-HM
